Would all competitors please note that the result of the Rotax MiniMax class at the 2015 Welsh Championships at Llandow Kart Club on June 20th/21st has been declared null and void.

Fuller details will be issued as soon as possible.

Some positive Superone feedback!

The feedback received from the Organising Committee and drivers about the circuit and the running of the race programme have been really positive. The round clearly demonstrated Llandow’s ability to hold elite UK calendar events.

A Superone source said “All the Llandow staff did an excellent job and were very welcoming, the improvements you made worked well and the drivers liked the circuit. A great job from everyone involved”

This is really positive feedback. The Llandow committee would once again like to thank all circuit staff and club volunteers for their efforts. You should be rightly proud of the success.

Important information for all members and visitors

Following the first Committee meeting of the 2015 season the following decisions were made and will take effect immediately:

Movement of start line – the start line will move from the Hanger straight and revert to the original position on the current finish line and “The Hook” will form part of the opening lap. This will ensure our start and finish procedures are in line with current national championships requirements. This will be fully covered at Driver’s briefing at our April 2015 round.

Increase in race entry Fees – race entry fees will increase by 5.00 (new rate 55.00 members and 60.00 non-members). Fees have been frozen for 2 seasons and meeting costs have been increasing during the period. However, we still think this represents good value for money.

Improvements

Following our recent survey the Committee has acted swiftly to try and improve the racing experience at the South Wales Karting Centre.

Live Timing - Complete as promised – we hope you have found it useful.

Timing Strip - Work in progress – watch this space.

Kerbs - SWKC staff have completed this task and I think you would all agree that they almost look too good to drive over!

Timed Races - Trialed very successfully at the Celtic and purchase of a clock will now go ahead.

There are other plans, in the pipeline, with the continued cooperation of the SWKC, including better toilet facilities. Further news will be forthcoming.

Llandow Kart Club Driver at the Worlds

TOM HARVEY  Fineshes 5th Overall At The WORLD ROTAX GRAND FINAL In New Orleans
After a fairly successful 2013 season (Welsh champion , 3rd overall in British super 1 championship, kartmasters vice champion), Tom secured a place in the prestigious ROTAX grand final in New Orleans, USA on November 13-16th. With only 256 of the worlds best drivers out of 15000 registered Rotax competitors world wide it was quite an honour to represent team GB.

Tom competed over a 4 days period against 72 of the world’s best drivers in the Junior Rotax catogory. From the 1st practice session Tom showed his pace by being fastest overall. By the time quali came round Tom was happy with his set up and managed to get Pole in his quali group, making him 2nd overall.

Heat 1 - started 2nd and finish (6th despite a poor start). Heat 2 - started 1st finished 1st.

Heat 3 - Started 1st finish 1st (however a technical exclusion for rear width being 2mm to narrow, after a frantic tyre change to rain tyres in parc ferme)

Prefinal - started 25th finished 2nd

Final - started 2nd finished 5th (after leading the final for 14 out of 15 laps, got smashed off on the final lap!)

Tom showed his ability on a world stage, and is set on retuning next year to finish the job he started, to become the Rotax world champion.

On a very sour note after the final on Saturday, Tom's signature M&M helmet was stolen from the awning along with his GB race suit. If anyone has information to the whereabouts of Tom's Helmet please get in touch with Tom through the contact page.

Marshall Safety Clothing

marshells jackets

During the summer Llandow Kart Club obtained some funding from the ABkC for new Marshall safety clothing and for trolleys to carry their flags, fire extinguishers etc. The new gear was first used at the November meeting and as you can see is very effective and smart. Thanks to Sheila for organizing the marshalls and to John Taylor for sorcing the jackets and manufacturing the trolleys - all helps to make us safer and raise our profile.
